4.5 out of 10 Inspiring
Kevin from Dublin, 31 Aug 2007
Amazing true life story of a has been boxer who gets another shot. If you've read the book you'll enjoy it all the more but even without it you'll love this film. There's more to the film than the boxing scenes, its a great insight into depression era america and the bravery and integrity of the people despite their hardships. Giamatti is great and crowe plays braddock very well.

4.5 out of 10 Cinderella Man
Fiona from Dublin, 03 Mar 2008
This was a great movie one of the best I have seen in a while. My husband loved it too. It was a human interest story and there was great drama and fighting (for the men). I didn't know the story (true story) so you could imagine it all ending badly. Triumphant story in a terrible time in US history (the Great Depression) This is a movie I would buy and watch again!

4.5 out of 10 Brillant!!!
Fiona from Galway, 28 Feb 2008
Really brillant...really enjoyed this movie...gave good insight to the recession in the US and boxing and its based on a true story...Russell Crowe and Renee were really really brillant in it...I give it 9 out of 10 because although it is well worth a watch there was something missing from it...still well worth a watch though

What's it about....
James J. Braddock (Russell Crowe), dubbed 'Cinderella Man', was a once-promising light heavyweight for whom a string of losses in the ring and a broken right hand became synonymous with the Great Crash. With one good hand, Braddock was forced to labour on the docks of Hoboken, while only his manager (Paul Giamatti) still believed in him, finding fights for Braddock to help support his wife (Renee Zellweger)and children. One of the sport's oddest couples, the diminutive,...
