Absolutely brilliant movie about a pre- op transexual who discovers that s(he) fathered a child back in the days when s(he) used her dinkle.
In order to prove to her counsellor that she's come to terms with this trauma she takes the lad under her wing and the two embark on a road trip. Their relationship inevitably develops, but not in the usual, predictable ways.
Felicity Huffman is brill, as are most of the cast. A few nice twists and turns keep the storyline fresh.
Go on, rent it!

This is /brilliant/. Felicity Huffman is a revelation- she brings real poignancy and grace to her portrayal of Bree. In lesser hands, this could've turned into daytime soap fodder, but the great cast do things brilliantly.
(Oh, and a special word of recommendation for the soundtrack, which is absolutely brilliant.)
Shocking at first but, heartwarming by the end

A Pre-op Transsexual finds out he/she has a teenage son and tries to do right by him.
A very unusual film, which pulls no punches about the damage the modern family can inflict upon its members.
Wonderfully played by felicity Huffman, all the actors are excellent.
A real eye-opener.
mmmmmmmmmmm

I found this film quite disappointing - I didn't warm to either of the main characters and while there were moments when I laughed etc, it wasn't either funny or poignant enough to keep me really interested - expected more from it.
Very surprising
