Waveriders takes a chapter by chapter approach on how surfing and Ireland have connections that span back to the resurgence of the activity in the 19th century. The most affecting parts are in the reverie about Freeth and his contribution to the sport and to a lot more than that. I would have watched a whole movie about that guy. The movie then moves thru' the years to modern times and the camerawork of the big-wave surfing off the Cliffs of Moher is breathtaking. Excellent documentary.
Bit of a yawn, except the last 5 minutes

First 70 minutes of this is spent trying to convince us that wave surfing is a higher level of abstract activity that rises above normal human activities and is a bit of a yawn. Then the last 5 minutes, when the big waves hit, is mesmerising. SO skip the first 75, jump straight to the last bit, and you'll have seen it all.

This is one to watch for anyone interested in surfing or adventure sports. The people featured are at the top of their game, but still modest and down to earth. It's certainly an eye opener and found the big wave surfing off the west of Ireland incredibly exciting to watch. Beautifully filmed and well made film.

Liked this one but have an interest in surfing - although I think this is of interest to anyone. Great to see the Aileen wave off the Cliffs of Moher, not to mention Kelly Slater enjoying the surf in Ireland

If you are a surfer i would think you would love this movie!!! No dont bother its not worth the only good thing was it only lasted an hour and half
